013 / City Waterfront Public Park
Infrastructure as landscape´s support
The project is based on the idea that there's a possibility and a need (on the actual project oversaturation of the world) to build a new metropolitan scale version of public space, linked with urban ecosystemic entities that managed to survive until now, preserving the characteristics that enrich life in the city.
This new version of public space is understood as an open matrix, where projectual action tend to build new and possible relationships between things instead of designing the things themself. This way, the project is defined by three action-pices, that specialize this relations on the progressive sequence of the urban environment and riparian ecosystems.
A Pier and an esplanade on the south
At this point the city finds an opportunity to radicaly modify its relationship with the Rìo de la Plata. The artificially insular condition is still now perceptible on the architectural and geographical elements of the arqueological footprint on the landscape. This geographical condition plus its strategic joint position, between the Riachuelo mouth and the Rio de la Plata, makes it possible to think that the traditional waterfront of the city becomes an incursive project within the Rìo de la Plata.
This is how the piece that articulates the project can be understood as a pier for the city as a waterfront, but also as an esplanade for the new imagined urbanity.
